Teenager Trudy Purdy is blundering through life, making one mistake after another. Attempting to throw off her bad habits, Trudy enters high school with high hopes. She is ecstatic when one of the most popular boys in school asks her to be his girl. She realizes she’s made a terrible mistake when he lures her to a deserted beach where he and three of his friends abuse her and leave her for dead.
Trudy’s nightmare is far from over; she is discovered by feeding vampires. When she awakens uninjured in her home, she initially remembers nothing of the horrifying night. But as days pass, her mind flashes back to her horrifying experience on the beach, and she recalls everything. She begins to feel a new power within. Trudy uses her newfound strength, gained by drinking the blood of others, to plot the accidental deaths of the boys who brutalized her.
As Trudy exacts revenge, she realizes she is changing and seeks answers to the unsettling questions concerning her new powers. She suspects the truth about her transformation and wonders how it will affect the rest of her life.
